Visit Rotterdam A city break during the summer? Are you mad? No, not at all! That's because Rotterdam is not your run-of-the-mill city - far from it. For one, there are oodles of fun activities that don't cost the earth, and there is always a nice cooling breeze in this famous harbour city - even at the height of summer!
The best way to get around Rotterdam (in our opinion) is to rent a bicycle: You'll have access to a massive system of cycle paths that allow you to explore at your own pace. What's more, the whole city is full of pretty parks & picturesque waterways that make stopping off anywhere a pleasure. (If you don't feel like pedalling, there's also an excellent metro system.)
What to see in Rotterdam? You could start with the Cube Houses: Rotterdam's iconic Kubuswoningen are a vibrant architectural marvel - and thoroughly Instagrammable to boot! For more awesome pics, ascend the Euromast: From its 185 m high observation platform, you'll get the most stunning panoramic views! If you're feeling a bit peckish after all this excitement, we suggest a visit to the Markthal. At this colourful market hall, you'll find superb foods from chips & mayo (very Dutch!) to Indian delicacies, oodles of cheeses, baked goods, sweets, and a wonderful variety of fruit & veg. At night, head down to the lively harbour for some cold drinks and fab views of the amazing Erasmus Bridge.
With so much to see & do, time is just going to fly by! So it's really important to have accommodation in a good location. Our recommendation is The Usual Rotterdam. Just steps away from the popular Witte de Withstraat and the harbour area, this eco-friendly 4* with its unique design is a great base for exploring.
