Visit iconic Malaga
Mention the city of Malaga and many people will immediately think of sandy beaches and exotic alcoholic drinks. But the largest city on the Costa del Sol offers so much more than that!

For one, Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the world. Founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century, you will find a truly wonderful mix of ancient & modern here. Add to that year-round sunshine, and you have a city that never fails to enchant. Malaga, then, is full of attractions, ancient & modern. Here are our favourites.

Alcazaba Fortress
If you're looking for that wow-factor, you can't do better than a visit to the magnificent Moorish fortress of Alcazaba, located right at the heart of Malaga. Here you will find gorgeous fountains, intricate floors and an atmosphere as though from another time.

Gibralfaro Castle
Perched on a high hill overlooking Malaga and its port, Gibralfaro Castle is an imposing presence. It's well worth leaving the hustle & bustle of the city for a visit here - the views from Gibralfaro are amongst the most stunning along the Costa del Sol.

Birthplace of Pablo Picasso
One of the most famous artists in the world was born in Malaga: None other than Pablo Picasso, who embraced so much of Spanish culture and vibrancy with his art. The Museo Picasso Málaga hosts a vast collection of his works.

Beaches
Yes, the beaches are one of Malaga's highlights that definitely must not be missed! Soft golden sand that stretches for miles and miles invite one to linger & relax, for a perfect day off after some exciting sightseeing.

Food & drink
And you should definitely head for the beach if you are looking for some delicious food in Malaga: At beachside chiringuitos, you will find local favourites like Pescaito frito (fried fish) and espetos (grilled sardines). Follow with a lovely cocktail or fresh fruit juice. Sit & relax in the sun. Heaven!
Best time to visit: all year round, but particularly during the shoulder months, March - May and September to November
